The Sun leaves Leo and the ego drive shifts from personal happiness expectations. individuality defiance and creative expression – to a more introspective and detail focused agenda. Ruled by Mercury, the journey of the Sun through Virgo is a time to contemplate the ‘intricacies’ and ‘flow’ of daily life. Until late September, you will be information dealing and gathering, instructing and rectifying – in an endeavour to create a daily environment that appeals to your senses, and also ‘flows’ in a way that suits your inner most needs.

One of the most common misconceptions about Virgo energy (well, it has been this way for my client base and son but may not be so for other consulting astrologer’s) – is that the energy denotes a pedantic hygiene and routine control freak. What you do find with the Virgo influence though, is the complex difficulties in relations that occur when others impinge on the Virgo desired way of doing things. You see, the Mercury and Virgo in your chart, likes life, its interactions and dealings, plus the physical, daily environment to flow in a certain manner. This may be having clothes strewn from one end of the room to the other, a desk piled high with crumpled papers or a pantry filled with groceries, labels colour-coded, titles facing the front, sized perfectly from largest to smallest. It is when ‘others’ intrude on this blissful equilibrium that difficulty happens for your Virgo energy.

When ‘personal environmental boundaries’ are crossed, you must utilise the brilliance of Virgo’s clarity regards the personal needs in whatever house it rules, and communicate to find a level of compromise. This is great logic in a perfect world, but not all individuals are prepared to compromise and this is where you, and your Virgo energy hit their toughest dilemma. Attempt to change the dynamic with persistent critical opinion, or move away from the blockage to a more suitable environment. You will recognise this pattern, and where you have chosen the first scenario. Here, you would have embraced more negative Virgo manifestations of martyrdom, or becoming overly critical of those around you, which does little to nothing regards improving the situation.

In the world of Tarot, Virgo is symbolised by The Hermit, the influence that is everyone’s ‘inner shaman’ . Here, Virgo and The Hermit are concerned with balancing the physical need, with that of the spiritual. Needing time for solitude and quiet reflection in which to connect with your higher wisdom, the next month will bring you times of pleasant social connection but also times of social fatigue. More often than not though, you will find that you long for nothing more than your own space, well away from the noisy input of others. Make sure that you allocate ample time to tune out from the surface raucous and tune in with your inner wisdom. Whilst it is an amazingly productive time for tweaking the routine and shedding lousy habits, it is equally paramount that you don’t become a machine and that you ensure that you have enough time for quiet contemplation.

….and the world rejoices! No offense to my Sun sign, but what a completely average journey ‘that’ was! Once the Sun moves beyond this Black Moon Lilith/Pluto yod, and the quincunx with Chiron, the air in general will feel a little bit sweeter. Leo is naturally upbeat and boisterous, excited to be alive and keen to enjoy every day. This attitude will lift everyone’s spirits, which is much needed with the other heavier aspects lingering about. Of course there is always the arrogance and ego factor attached to all things Leo, but tempered, it’s a nice addition for those whose confidence levels have taken a rancid beating this last while.

Mid August (13th-16th) brings the Leo Sun into a trine with Ceres in Sagittarius. She is moving forward again, which can be a positive for the career and financial IF you keep the aims and spending levels within a healthy level.

The end of the month finds an opposition between the Sun and Neptune/Chiron. This can be a tough one with rebellion and subservience swinging you to and fro. You can feel desperate to please one moment, then change feet and be overly demanding the next. Expectations can be unrealistic as can aspirations. However, the main aim of this opposition is to think outside of the box and reconnect again with original ‘happiness’ intentions. If you’re following a path that is NOT bringing you happiness, that fact will be bouncing up and down in front of you in bright flouro by the end of August

In Tarot, the card for Leo is the Strength card, one of the most positive in the deck. Here, you are aware of your fears and aware of your anger. You master both, maintaining a healthy respect for boundaries, both personal and those of others. You choose to face your fears head on and forge your way through those personal barriers that have been holding you back from achieving your goals.  You also appreciate that whilst you are a creature of the ‘light’, you also have your fair share of dark and doomy character traits. Yet, this knowledge only empowers you because you are in control of your actions, being the master of self discipline that you are.

Receiving Strength indicates internal challenge, but despite the hardship or confrontation – you know in your heart that even though you WILL fall down, you will pick yourself up, dust yourself off and continue on regardless.
